Ebony Women and Ivory Men _ News & Entertainment _ JOP who refused to marry an IR couple
Posted by: FutureMrs09 Jul 12 2010, 09:02 PM
Hey guys,
So I came across this while browsing on one of my facebook pages. Apparently there was a Justice of the Peace (who apparently has now stepped down) who refused to marry interracial couples because of "the offspring." One IR couple a BM and a WW filed a lawsuit against him (they were the ones he initially refused to marry and it caused national headlines). As a mixed race child who is currently, and has been in interracial relationships throughout her life, I was very angry at this. Here is the link:

Thoughts? Comments? Oh and sorry if I'm a bit loopy or incoherent - I just got out of the hospital early this morning. I'm on a lot of medications, in a bunch of pain, tired, and prescribed a bunch of bed rest (so I might get very bored very quickly). -_- But I'm hoping that I'll feel better soon!

Sorry to here you're not feeling too good, nothing serious I hope.
The JOP story has been covered on EWAIM here, http://ebonywomenandivorymen.com/index.php?showtopic=12249&st=0, but your input is appreciated, I understand the court case against the JOP is still pending

Sadly some believe in racial purity. Near the end and after the Vietnam war they were killing mixed race babies. Here, in America, I have heard people call mixed race people less than equal from both sides of the racial divide. I have heard black men and women say the only strong black is those that are extremely dark skinned, according to them indicating racial purity. I have heard white folks say similar things. Yet when it comes to getting in bed with mixed race or one from another race they gladly do so, except in the extreme racist.
Ideas like those indicated above should be openly disapproved. Yet I see both blacks and whites tacitly approve it when they do not tell those they know it is unacceptable to speak that way.
I read an article in Scientific American arguing the idea of race needs to be dropped regarding medicine. That the races have so inner mixed that now the difference is really only skin deep.
(Note: If you accept evolution at one time there was a difference. It is only rescently that science has began arguing whether Neanderdthal and humans breed. An article in Scientific American says science had found genetic evidence that they did breed.)
Being in a university city I over heard a couple of students debating when illnesses like sickle cell will occur in someone regardless of race. All due to the natural effect of men and women being drawn to one another.
Get well soon!!!!!

I hope you're feeling better. Those hospital visits I try to keep to a minimum.
"the offspring". That concern belongs to the two people wanting to get married and not the JOP's. Clearly the couple understood what they were going into and had worked out anything they thought would be an issue. I don't see why the JOP should have any. Sounds like a "nice" excuse for his personal objections. By refusing to marry them, he's opened a pandora's box.

Hmmm! sdf is an unusual combination of letters. That wouldn't be sdf.lonestar.org would it?

It would be a missbehaving Java applet and me trying to find the cursor.

I'm sorry for being a little late on this one but did anyone else notice he was a Little Person. I love LPs because often times they understand discrimination, so it concerns me even more that he would feel this way.
Do people tell him that they can only marry 2 Little People together because they shouldn't be intermixing?

I didn't notice that.
Very likely in non-verbal ways. I'm not known for my height being only 5'6" yet I prefer tall women so it's hard to find a lady open to dating a shorter guy. I'm in a double whammy of a sorts because I prefer BWs and while many are open to the idea of dating out, most don't because of the peer pressure from friends and family.
Unfortunately, that's life but they're not government officials acting on behalf of the government. If they were, I'd have a legitimate case against them. I certainly don't want the government dictating who can marry who or how many kids each of us can have and what race(s) they need to be just to satisfy some researcher's personal opinion on what the world makeup should be.
