Black and white stock photo of a young African American woman wearing a white dress with a wrap, one hand to her chin, one hand resting on a wall, grinning while a caucasian man with a mustache, wearing a straw hat, rests his hand on her arm and looks at her, 1902.

Nah, it'd be in sepia, and the qualities far to good. Sure It's obviously a carefully posed studio shot, but that's how they did 'em back in the day.

Whether or not it's a real IR is probably lost in the mists of time smile.gif

With today's imaging technology its is getting more difficult to be sure what is genuine anymore. As a matter of fact, it has become commonplace today for totally fabricated photos to be circulated and most people get duped into believing they are real. I think that even courts are now more wary of accepting photographic "evidence" because technological advances make it too easy to create false evidence. I have become more cynical about almost everything I see on the internet. Whenever I receive e-mails that makes statements that are not common knowledge, I almost automatically look to verify the information from more credible sources.

True, I do the same myself (the last one was the light aircraft landing with only one wing), the old adage that the camera never lies is a nonsense, but I think this picture is genuine, being part of a collection from one of the many stock photo companies about, I think they'd know if it was a modern creation. there's no reason to think its a fake. Unless you think the subject matter is unlikely for that time period, the picture has a mex-tex look to it and may well of been taken in New Mexico where at the time interracial relations/marriages were not officially prohibited. smile.gif

I e-mailed ImageEnvision asking if they had any info on the photo and specifically if the couple where genuine, and got the following reply.

Hi Phil,

We really have no way of knowing. The image is very old. Chances are the people in the photos were models for the photographer.

Thank You,
