Initally Id say if its a girl, I want her to date a nonblack male but I now understand my childs happiness is the most important thing. If he treats her right Im fine with it. However, I wouldnt encourage her to len one way or another. I'd want my children happy:)

To be honest, I would just want my child to happy. They could be miserable with any race of men/women. But if my son or daughter had a race preference, I hope it would be a mixed race person. My parents wanted me to date within my own race. But I don't pay them any mind.

If I had biracial child, I would want them to date whoever they wanted as long as that person treated them with respect. Race can't always speak for a person so there would be no point of me limiting there dating preference according to race.

I have heard some black women say he better not bring home a white girl, in referring to their sons, but these women had black sons that were not mixed or biracial, so I was wondering if anyone felt strongly about their biracial sons or daughters dating or not dating a certain race.

We've Absolutely no problems at all with our children dating or marrying any person of any race, I might have to think twice about Klingons though, you just can't trust the nobbly headed buggers.

I don't know about that Phil. All those big strong men with long wild hair. That look in their eyes when they see a woman they like and all that growling. If I was also out in space I would not say no if Warf gave me the come on.

Beyond cautioning them against the thugs (of any race), I really dont care so long as he respects her and she is happy.

Well it seems most of us have a long time before this will all unfold.

My parents have never said they wanted me to date white men but the times I brought a black guy home, I could sense a difference. It could have just been from the surprise of it all because all of my dates have been white.

Of coarse the obvious answer is'i want my child to be happy'. But being Greek American, i want my children to preserve there heritage so id tell them to find a woman whos half Greek American And half black.

What about half Black-Greek and White-American

I want my son and daughter to be with dynamic, suppportive and loving partners of any race. I'm very open-minded and I think I would be a hypocrite if I was opposed to my children's relationship based on a bias, especially given the fact that I am in an interracial marriage myself.

you would think so but from what i've seen out here, being in an interracial relationship or having mixed kids hasn't really freed too many people of their biases and prejudices regarding race and gender. they might like who they are with and their children but for some people that is where it stops. so it does not surprise me at all when someone has a preference for their kids to be with a certain race and gender.

You're right. There are some people who are extremely hypocritical.

Hypocrisy can be a good thing sometimes. Some of us smoke and drink but since we love and want the best for our children, that doesn't mean we would want them to do it.

If your in a interracial relationship and have children. Do you have a preference as to who he/she will date. I know we all want our kids to be happy. But does it matter if they want to date strictly white people or black, or asian for that matter.

ALL parents wants what is best for their kids, but wanting what is best for their kids, should this give them the right to dictate or interfere with their kids dating preferences.

1 - Should parents share their experiences and give advice to their children along these lines, and if they are giving advice, what vital advice should they give? or is there a limit to what advice they should give as parents when it comes to their kids and the dating game?



2 - Should parents stand on the fence and just let their children do their thing?



3 - And for those parents who do have a race preference for their kids to date/marry, then do they not fall into the same category of their non accepting inlaws, friends, family and/or society of their own interracial relationship?

My children have had a very varied and 'cosmopolitan' upbringing and therefore date all races as long as they find them attractive.



I have no preference as to the race of partner they eventually settle down with. At present my daughter is seeing a WM who has similar interests to herself. My son is dating a Sicilian woman who also works in IT.



I think the only time I would worry is when their partners religious beliefs or background stopped my children from being who they 'truly are'. I would not want to see them hurt, but they have the final say of course.

I don't know, I don't think I really care as long as they are happy and loved.I have heard some black women say their sons better not bring home a white girl but I am expecting a baby boy and if he grows up and wants a white I will support his choices. Same with my daughter because you can get a bad person in any races but I know some people would rather see their son with a woman more like them or their daughter with a man like what they prefer to date. But with me I will accept who ever my child wants to be with.

Gus don't you think it is rather hypoctically to say that you would "prefer" that your kids marry a Greek women but, yet stand on a sopa box in a board title ebony woman and ivory men and say that its ok if you date outside your culture. I mean I read thru two of your post an out of everyones I seem to be confusd about which side of the fence you choose to teeter on. I mean finding a half greek half black women would seem pretty damn complicated to me unless you are specilaizng in inbreeding. Which is what most ppl do when they are trying to presesve a rather uncommon blood.

You seem to be confused. In terms of race it doesnt matter to me. But in terms of nationality i prefer Greek. There are Greek woman who are black.

Is there many black people in Greece? I know it's black folks all over but when I think of Greece I think of white folks,not black so if you want them to marry a greek girl, what are the chances of her being white or black? I have no clue because I never traveled abroad so if my question is stupid it was not meant to be.

No your question is not stupid at all. Yes there are alot of African nationals who went to school in Greece and have decided to live there. As a matter of fact there is a Brooklyn born black woman married to a Greek man and was elected to the Greek house of representatives in the Attica province.
I have dated a few Greek woman who are black while i was in Greece. Although they arnt that many Black people they are very well respected in Greece.

To be honest, I would PREFER if my daughter dated a white or asian guy, but of course I will still love and respect her and her relationship even if it's with another type of guy, as long as she feels comfortable.

I wouldn't care who my son dated.
